![]() This was my first time playing this and I can see why it's the last of the Lucas Arts games they remastered.ģh 30m PlayedI review games with all games starting at 5/10 (Average) and then deduct/add for negatives and positives: Overall feeling: Really enjoyable re-make for a classic game. I guess something can be said for preservation, or 'I guess it's nice to have a version of this game that doesn't need to run in ScummVM'. The remaster did nothing to improve on the *very* awkward minigames and puzzles. ![]() If it didn't insist on the clunky minigames and puzzle to breakup the story beats I might have come away from it positive, but here we are. And lots of the writing is witty and had me chuckling to myself. I do kind of love how gracefully the game depicts vagabond biker culture in a fun, cartoony way. A classic tale about corporate interests clashing with those of biker gangs. The actual story and plot is decent enough. It's fun, but doesn't make for the best adventure game. Playing the leader of a motorcycle gang who's verb list includes *kick* doesn't seem right. Adventure games are traditionally about soaking in atmosphere and solving problems with cleverness and wit. A lot of the ideas feel like they were pitched in a meeting without an understanding of what's fun to do in video game versus what sounds fun to do in a video game. The other puzzles don't fare that much better, with the motorcycle fighting minigame headlining the clunky design parade. It's an alright puzzle made bad by needless obfuscation. ![]() The remastered highlight function doesn't even highlight it. ![]() But the issue is it's not clear that the bottom of the door can be interacted with in that way. It's a fun idea on paper, to subvert the player's expectations. The actual solution is to place a lock at the bottom of the closed door, which causes the chain to become rigid, and can then be climbed over the wall, getting the player into the junkyard. The immediate thought many players will have is 'I need to hold this door open somehow'. You can pull the chain to lift the door, but it has to be held, and falls if you walk away to try to enter the junkyard. One puzzle involves two elements, a garage door style entrance to a junkyard and a chain that pulls the door up. This game suffers from a lack of play testing, or maybe just underdeveloped design sensibilities. The music has been completely redone, and sounds superior to the old MIDI stuff. The VO was already great with the insane cast, and it's fantastic they were able to find the original files. Sound is a definite improvement across the board. But it's a remaster, so I guess they have to make it all *modern* and whatnot. Honestly I think the game shouldn't have been expanded to 16:9, lots of the framing only really works in 4:3. The lighting and tone changes a little too drastically for some scenes. But unlike the other remasters Double Fine has done, this one feels a bit off. I never played the original, and I really like the ability to jump between the two version on a whim. The game has some fame rate issues and the game plays the same tracks over and over.A decent romp, but a pretty weak game all things considered, especially when considering the other Lucas Arts games. The game gets boring after playing it for awhile and the game makes the same mistakes like the first game like saying the same things over and the game doesn't make you think that you are going fast. What makes this game a must rent game is that its actually fun to play and you get to ride your favorite bikes from the show. The missions in the game are the same missions from the last American Chopper game. The game has the voices from the characters on the show. American Chopper feel like the same game just smacked with new graphics and just a couple new bikes added to this game. The game has all the bikes that the OC made and the characters from the show. American Chopper Full Throttle is a great improvement from the last American Chopper game. By MiniGuns | Review Date: JanuAmerican Chopper Full Throttle is the sequel to American Chopper.
